Every so often review your bills and subscriptions. Look them over:
Are you subscribing to things you don’t use? Such as a premium cable channel, unlimited text on your cell phone, XBox Live, or home delivery DVD service.
Are there other options?
Home Delivery DVD service or Premium Movie Channels: You can discontinue these services and use a Redbox or Blockbuster Kiosk to rent movies at your convenience.
Home Phone: Many people are getting away from their home phone, but before you do that make sure you are on an adequate cell phone plan and compare the cost of each to see if there is a benefit to disconnecting. If you must keep your home phone do you really need call waiting or caller ID?
Cable/Satellite Services: These companies are very competitive. If you signed up under a contract is the contract up? If so are there other plans available at a lower cost?
Cell Phone Services: Is your cell phone service contract up? Are there better rate plans with the same company or other companies? Does the company you work for have discounts available for certain cell companies? (Mine does)
Insurance: Insurance is a necessity but what is your deductible? Can you raise the deductible and save on your premiums? Does your insurance offer discounts to young drivers that complete a safety program or any other offers. Combine home and auto insurance with the same company and you will usually receive a discount. Check with the company before you make changes and get quotes.
Can you think of any other ways to save on “necessities”?
