Prior to couponing you usually shopped for groceries with the goal of filling your pantry with what you needed for the coming week but when couponing you have to think diferently.

NO- Buy large sizes and save money. YES-Buy the smallest size the coupon will allow. Why? Example: You have a coupon for 50 cents off of any size soap. 1 bar is 50 cents. A multipack of 3 is 1.50. Had you rather have a free bar or pay 33 cents each?

No-It is cheap or free with a coupon but I only need 1 or 2 this week. YES- Buy as many as your family will use in around 12 weeks. Why? Sales cycles repeat around every 12 weeks. It may be 12 weeks before this item may come up on sale again. Buy now with coupons while the price is cheap.

No-I buy generics because they are cheaper. YES- Coupons are for branded products usually. With some couponing knowledge and combining coupons with the sale items you usually come out much cheaper than generic items normal cost.
